  • The Bottom Line

If you know anything about grills, you know Weber products are synonymous with quality and durability. The Q series allows you to take the quality of Weber on the road (or wherever else you want) with their portable grills. The Weber Q2200 is a popular model in this series for many reasons.

The gas grill is portable, but it still boasts 280 square inches of grilling space. The hood is able to accommodate grilling a large roast or whole chicken. It’s a great grill for an apartment or condo balcony, and it’s compact enough for travel. The efficient design and quality materials makes this grill able to withstand the rigors of travel and still cook your food evenly.

Overview of the Weber Q2200

If you plan on camping or tailgating, this portable gas bbq is ready to come along for the ride. Though it may not be as powerful as a standard gas grill, it can put other similar portable grills to shame. The main stainless steel burner can reach up to 12,000 BTUs, while the porcelain-enameled, cast-iron cooking grates will hold that heat in to help your food cook evenly.

The Weber Q2200 grill’s lid and body are made from high-quality cast aluminum. The lid also includes a thermometer so you will always know your grill’s temperature. Weber’s infinite control burner valve lets you cook your food at any temperature. Folding side tables give you more prep space for utensils or seasonings.

Features of the Weber Q2200

  • Fairly large cooking area for being a portable grill (280 square inches)
  • Easy push button ignition
  • Grill evenly and precisely thanks to a tubular burner made of stainless steel
  • Maximum output of 12,000 BTUs
  • Large hood to cook larger food items like whole chickens
  • Body and lid made of durable cast aluminum
  • Thermometer on the lid ensures cooking at the temperature you want
  • Folding glass-reinforced tables on each side of the grill for added prep space
  • Removable grease catch pan for easy clean-up
  • Sturdy construction with the grill weight of 42 pounds
  • Runs on liquid propane (disposable cylinders sold separately or a conversion kit could be purchased to use larger propane tanks)
  • Ability to choose different colors
  • High-quality USA made product

More Options for Cooking

If you want more than just a grill from the Q2200, Weber offers a griddle accessory. This optional features makes cooking on the Weber Q2200 even more versatile! Want some bacon on your camping trip? How about a seafood feast on your balcony?  Just take out the grates and add the griddle to make it happen. It’s also great to use as a searing plate.

The Bottom Line

The Weber Q2200 is much more than a flimsy portable grill. Its solid construction and quality craftsmanship makes it an excellent choice for grilling on the go. It has a relatively large cooking area to grill for multiple people.

The quality materials make the grill one of the heavier portable grills weighing about 42 pounds. This may not make it as portable as similar grills. Lugging the grill and all your camping supplies during a hike through the wilderness may not be the most comfortable option. It does, however, work well for porches, balconies, and the back of pickup trucks during your favorite tailgates.

If you want a portable grill with USA made Weber quality, the Q2200 is an excellent option.
